See Korn's Brian "Head" Welch Do a Hilarious Impression of Deftones' Chino Moreno

Nu-metal guitarist nailed loving vocal spoof

Korn and Deftones grew up together in the Nineties California scene and jointly spearheaded the love-it-or-hate-it heavy-music style that would become known as nu-metal. The two bands have been longtime friends, touring together, collaborating, naming songs for the other group's members and covering each others' music. As Korn's Jonathan Davis told us of the first time time he met Deftones' Chino Moreno: "He's in an Adidas jumpsuit with the dreadlocks, and we just circled and looked at each other. And we then became really good friends. We were kindred spirits."

That being the case, it was clearly in the spirit of love when Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, joking around the studio, dropped a hilariously on-point parody of Moreno's distinctive vocal stylings. "This is a total Chino part, huh?" he says to his seven-string counterpart James "Munky" Welch in the YouTube video above. Head then launches into his impression, opening with breathy whispers punctuated with a little puking sound and culminating in a quick scream. It's all in the family, all they say.
