Gallagher teases new music, discusses songwriting with Metallica drummer in new "It's Electric!" interview

Noel Gallagher stopped by Lars Ulrich's Beats 1 show "It's Electric!" recently to discuss his solo material, songwriting process, future plans — and of course, his iconic former band, Oasis. Apple Music has revealed three excerpts from the first half of their conversation, which will be broadcast worldwide later this week. The footage shows the two rockers chatting about a variety of topics, from the art of songwriting and their mutual love of U2, to Gallagher's fateful decision to quit Oasis in 2009 — and the incredulous, profanity-laced texts he received from Ulrich in response. (You read that right: Noel Gallagher and Lars Ulrich are on a friendly texting basis.)

"I remember, the day after I left Oasis I got a text from the drummer of Metallica," the Brit observes, Ulrich laughing knowingly in the background. "He said to me, words to the effect of, 'You're either incredibly brave or incredibly fucking stupid!' And I text him back and said, 'I think it's going to be alright." Check out the former two clips above, and the latter below.

Part one of Ulrich's "It's Electric!" interview with Gallagher airs this Sunday, April 8th, with part two to follow on April 15th. Since the show's launch last May, Ulrich has interviewed Iggy Pop, Rancid guitarist Lars Frederiksen, Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows, Royal Blood, Dave Grohl, Dillinger Escape Plan, and most recently, Jack White. Catch "It's Electric!" every Sunday at 6 p.m. EST on Apple Music.
