See Linkin Park's Stadium-Erupting "In the End" Performance From 2001

Nu-metal icons made massive crowd lose their shit with most beloved song

On October 9th, 2001, nearly a year after it was included as the eighth track on on their 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory, Linkin Park released the smash hit, "In the End," as a standalone single. The emotionally gripping banger would quickly become the nu-metal band's most iconic song, as well as a staple of their live set that incited some of their most inspired crowd reactions.

One of those performances took place on September 16th, 2001, at the London Docklands Arena during their European headlining tour. After warming the massive audience up with seven other tracks off of Hybrid Theory, Linkin Park launched into "In the End" and the entire venue erupted into cathartic bliss.

Even though Chester Bennington was doused in sweat the whole time, he still kept the energy high and nailed the hook while Mike Shinoda rapped his verses like there was no tomorrow. The band were still relatively new to playing venues of that scale, but you can see in the pro-shot footage that they thrived in front of the crowd that was screaming back every word with lung-busting conviction.

The band played "In the End" hundreds more times after this night, but this particular performance captured their electric essence as a fledgling act. Watch while you scream along above via YouTube.
