Austin-based death-metal crew serve up nasty visual

Although the band now features members of Iron Reagan among its ranks, Mammoth Grinder's core mission statement hasn't changed much since Chris Ulsh (who drums in Power Trip) formed the group in 2005: pure, hateful death metal with a focus on brutality above all else. If Gorguts were out to murder, their weapon of choice might be a razor-sharp scalpel, whereas Mammoth Grinder's is a giant sledgehammer, slick with wet crimson on the handle grip from all of the messy "work" they've done already. Both get the job done, but with one choosing brawn over brains.

That's not to say that Mammoth Grinder's approach is stupid by any means. The band's new video for "Servant of the Most High" is a good example of its modus operandi — psychedelic and stripped down, it focuses on atmosphere and darkness as opposed to complex storylines or an abundance of edits, sets, characters, etc. Simple. Fucked up. Nasty. And evil as shit.

Mammoth Grinder's forthcoming Cosmic Crypt LP is due out January 26th via Relapse. The band will hit the road early February in support.
