NYC death-metal staple Pyrexia returns with a muscular new effort, the title track of the band's forthcoming album, Unholy Requiem, as well as its unnerving video. Leaning heavily on groove with an emphasis on slam, the latest track is ready for the pit while maintaining an overall stench of hate, doom and despair. This is truly death metal of the coldest sort, remorseless, vengeful and fist-clenchingly great. The entirety of Unholy Requiem was recorded, mixed and mastered by founding Pyrexia guitarist and lone constant Chris Basile, at Subsonic Audio, who created a truly killer effort. The storyline follows a man who loses his wife and then performs a sort of blood ritual out of desperation to get her back. What happens next is nothing short of an abomination."
