See Marissa Nadler's Haunting Acoustic Performance of New Song "For My Crimes"

Goth-folk singer/songwriter channels Kate Bush, Earth on reworked title track off upcoming LP

Boston singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler is gearing up to release her eighth full-length, For My Crimes, this September via Sacred Bones. After revealing the record's title track — a stunning collaboration with indie darling Angel Olsen — late last month, the musician has shared an intimate music video capturing a one-off acoustic performance of the aforementioned track.

The simple, black-and-white visual, which was directed and edited by Tyler Smith, provides the perfect introduction to Nadler's delicate, elegiac art. As with the original version, the reinterpreted "For My Crimes" might not qualify as metal in a sonic sense, but its haunting, moody soundscapes gesture to the same heart of darkness nonetheless: think Kate Bush, by way of drone-doom legends Earth.

For My Crimes hits shelves September 28th via Sacred Bones. The follow-up to 2016's Strangers, it features collaborations with a bevy of guests, including Morphine saxophonist Dana Colley, folksters Sharon Von Etten, synth-pop musician Kristin Kontrol, Hole drummer Patty Schemel, and avant-garde harpist Mary Lattimore, among others. Pre-order the record here, and read on for Nadler's upcoming tour dates.
