See Metalhead Crush Slipknot and Tenacious D Songs on 'The Voice of Finland'

Dude in a Motörhead shirt sings "Master Exploder" on a mainstream reality show

Finland's version of the popular singing reality competition, The Voice, recently featured an actual metalhead who knows what the fuck he's doing. Back in February, Paavo Laapotti took to the stage — tatted, dreadlocked and clad in a dope Motörhead shirt — and busted out a phenomenal version of the Tenacious D classic, "Master Exploder." His performance was thrilling enough to completely win over four of the five judges, and earlier this month he returned to the show to battle another singer to the tune of Slipknot's "Duality."

In that second appearance, Laapotti faced off against another metalhead vocalist named Pyry Lintunen, whose Instagram handle is "@thesingingviking" and who also happens to sound pretty fucking awesome — especially by The Voice standards. Watching these dudes belt out legitimate metal songs on a mainstream reality show that tons of normies watch is extremely satisfying, and you can see both of the performances above and below via YouTube.

As Loudwire reports, Laapotti's star is already beginning to shine outside of Finnish Voice viewers. He recently sent his version of "Master Exploder" to Tenacious D themselves, and Kyle Gass was so moved by it that he invited Laapotti to play a couple shows with his side-project Trainwreck.

"I sent the performance to the manager of Kyle Gass, and I got a reply saying they want to fly me to L.A. to do two shows with Trainwreck," Laapotti told Loudwire. "I'll perform a song with them, and they're gonna be my backing band."

Hella cool.
