Thrash OGs broke out "Black Album" deep cut in Gothenburg

On July 9th, Metallica took their whirlwind WorldWired Tour to the birthplace of melodic death metal, Gothenburg, Sweden, and played an awesome career-spanning 18-song set (see the full set list below, via setlist.fm) at the Scandinavian city's Ullevi Stadium. Amid the Eighties classics and Hardwired... to Self-Destruct newbies, the thrash OGs broke out "Black Album" deep cut "The God That Failed." Freshly released official pro-shot footage of the performance captures James Hetfield and Co. delivering the crushing cut with characteristic vim and vigor.

Metallica are currently on hiatus from the stage since Hetfield's return to rehab, which led to the cancellation of the group's October mini-tour of Australia and New Zealand with Slipknot, but the quartet have big plans for 2020. The band are set to headline five major North American festivals next year, all of which are produced by Danny Wimmer Presents: Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple Music + Arts, Louder Than Life and Aftershock. Metallica will play two separate headlining sets at each stop, with a different set list for each performance.
