See Metallica Play "Fixxxer" for First Time Ever at 40th Anniversary Show

Kickoff concert of two-night event delivered live debut of 'Reload' closer

Last night (December 17th), Metallica kicked off their two-night 40th anniversary celebration at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The concert event, which was livestreamed for free, was intro'd by actor and diehard metalhead Jason Momoa via voiceover, and saw the thrash OGs tear through a wide-ranging set that included the first performance of "Trapped Under Ice" since 2012, the first performance of "King Nothing" since 2017 and the live debut of Reload deep cut "Fixxxer." See footage of that last performance above and below.

Metallica are set to play their second 40th anniversary show, again at the Chase Center, on Sunday, December 19th. It, too, will be livestreamed for free on The Coda Collection, powered by Amazon Music and Prime Video, as well as Amazon Music's Twitch channel.
