See Metallica Unleash Crushing "The Shortest Straw" Live Performance in 1992

Thrashers resurface another classic video for '...And Justice for All' 30th anniversary celebration

In the latest installment of their live video releases celebrating the 30th anniversary of ...And Justice for All, Metallica have shared a July 17, 1992 performance of the album's fifth track, "The Shortest Straw." The hot outdoor concert filmed at the multi-purpose Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C. didn't slow the sweat-drenched thrashers down a bit, and they deliver a raucous rendition of the track despite the surely sweltering conditions.

This throwback series — which is leading up to Metallica's massive reissue of ...And Justice for All — has been an excellent way for fans old and new alike to peek into the past to see the band when they were just reaching their place as arguably the most famous heavy metal band of all time, but before the big stage production with insane pyrotechnics and light shows were thrown in the mix. It's a great way to remember Metallica as they were and still remain, a raw and uniquely talented group of metal maniacs who sought out and accomplished total domination in their genre.
