In anticipation of their massive Master of Puppets reissue out later this week, Metallica have unearthed footage of a crushing take on the legendary LP's title track from July 6th, 1986, at Denmark's Roskilde Festival. Like the band's previously-excavated "Battery" performance clip, the video is exclusive to the remastered deluxe box set and 3xCD editions of the reissue.
The Roskilde run-through of "Master of Puppets" is the latest in a long string of rarities shared by Metallica in the weeks leading up to the package: the aforementioned "Battery" performance video, plus live versions of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Damage Inc.," a "Master of Puppets" demo, and a hard-to-find photo of late bassist Cliff Burton from 1986, with commentary by famed rock photographer Ross Halfin.
Metallica's mammoth Master of Puppets reissue also includes a trove of recordings from 1984-85 (including a live album on cassette), interviews, demos, rough mixes, a hardcover book containing photos and commentary, a DVD comprising live footage and interviews, two unreleased covers (of Diamond Head's "The Prince" and Fang's "The Money Will Roll Right In"), buttons and more. You can pre-order it here.
