"'All your fears are lies' — I love those lyrics," Metallica's James Hetfield said as his band closed their cover of Soundgarden's "All Your Lies" last night (January 16th) at the massive "I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" concert in Los Angeles. Hetfield and Co. were one of the first bands announced for the show, and they put their mark on the event, playing a four-song set including two original cuts ("For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Master of Puppets") and two Soundgarden covers (the aforementioned song and "Head Injury"). Jack Black enthusiastically introduced group, telling off his Tenacious D bandmates Kyle Gass ("Sorry, Kyle, upgrade!") when joining Hetfield for an awesome two-man performance of the "Landmine has taken my sight/Taken my speech ..." breakdown to "One," before ceding the stage to the thrash OGs. Check out the band's full set above, and an alternate view of their "All Your Lies" take below.
