See Metallica's Kirk Hammett Botch "Nothing Else Matters" Intro, Fall Over, Laugh It Off

"Sorry guys, I got distracted by how kickass you guys are"

Even the greatest guitarists of all time sometimes slip up and miss a note in front of a crowd of thousands. That's what happened to Metallica axeman Kirk Hammett over the weekend when he painfully botched the intro to "Nothing Else Matters" during his band's set at Boston Calling Festival, but like a true pro, he took it in stride and laughed it off before starting again.

The flub took place during Metallica's May 29th headlining set at the New England fest. Hammett was up there under the spotlight, strumming dutifully through the solemn opening lick of one of their most beloved songs, when suddenly a couple wrong notes rang out and his face made a slight twinge of embarrassment. Rather than pretending that nothing happened and continuing on, Hammett buckled his knees and slowly fell to the ground where he laid on his back like a puddle while the crowd laughed and jokingly booed.

After a few seconds, he got right up and took to the mic to apologize with a big smile on his face. "Sorry guys, you're so kickass I got distracted by how kickass you are," he said. "We'll try that again, OK?"

Within a minute, he fully redeemed himself and the set carried on as usual, but his wholesome handling of a minor fuck-up is hysterical to watch. Check it out above via YouTube.
