Drummer shows off vocal abilities in lighthearted rehearsal-room footage

Footage from Metallica's backstage tuning room session before their PG Paints Arena show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 18, 2018 has popped up online, and a short segment within shows the thrash heroes mix it up with a Judas Priest cover, "Delivering the Goods," featuring trusty drummer Lars Ulrich taking over for James Hetfield on vocal duties (watch at the 7:30 mark in the video above).

After guitarist Kirk Hammett jokingly calls out "Hell Bent for Leather," Hetfield jokes "the leather forecast for tonight ... patchy?" Ulrich suggests, "Let's play 'Delivering the Goods,'" and launches (a bit sloppily) into the song, shouting out the lyrics while staying steady on the kit.

Making it through the first few tempo changes in the track, the quartet appear to be as happy as a bunch of teens whisking through a track with their friends. Ulrich's voice may not be perfectly on par with Halford's untouchable wail, but the band are having a blast and show once again why their chemistry and friendship has lasted through almost four decades.
