Jack Black introduced thrashers, riffed on "One" with Papa Het

Footage from the recent Los Angeles celebration and fund-raiser I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell continues to spill forth onto the internet, but now we have professionally shot footage from Metallica's rip-roaring cover of Soundgarden's "All Your Lies" to add to the deluge.

After headbanging funny man Jack Black provides a characteristically hyped-up intro, James Hetfield saunters onto the stage and the School of Rock star quips that the two should form a new band before Het launches into the heaviest riff from "One." Black, unphased, begins growling out the words and the two make it through a whole verse before the Tenacious D singer finally cedes the spotlight to let the Big Four icons get down to business.

"Celebrating life, alright?" Hetfield asks the crowd. "We're grateful to be here." He recalls the quartet's interactions with Soundgarden, and soon they tear into Soundgarden's 1988 ripper with unabashed enthusiasm. Keeping the energy up throughout the cover, Hetfield ends the song saying, "'All your fears are lies.' I love those lyrics, baby. It is super true."
