See Metallica's Stunning New Video of "Master of Puppets" Lollapalooza Performance

With tribute to 'Stranger Things' metalhead Eddie Munson

Last Thursday (July 28th), Metallica headlined Lollapalooza, and considering the song's massive surge in popularity this summer due to its appearance in Stranger Things season 4, they just had to close their whole set with "Master of Puppets." Over the weekend, the thrash OGs offered up new pro-shot video of the performance, captured from stunning, swooping angles. Watch above.

As a tribute to the series' beloved metalhead Eddie Munson, clips from the character's iconic "Master" scene popped up on the jumbotron screens behind Metallica throughout the performance, and the overall lighting and design evoked the dark blue aesthetic of the show's Upside Down setting.

But that was just the climax of what was a major milestone for the Metallica-Stranger Things crossover. As it turns out, earlier in the day, actor Joe Quinn, who portrayed Munson, got to hang out with the band and even jammed "Master" with them in their rehearsal room. He did well enough that Lars Ulrich jokingly announced him as the new member of Metallica's revamped five-piece lineup.
