The four horsemen of the thrashocaplyse, Metallica, continued their globe-spanning rampage known as the WorldWired tour by shredding it out for 55,000 people in the city of Hämeenlinna, Finland, on July 16th. That's an impressive one percent of the country's entire population, and the metal titans didn't disappoint with an 18-song set that spanned the breadth of their career from the opener "Hardwired," taken from 2016's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct, to "Seek & Destroy," from their debut studio album Kill 'Em All (though it actually dates back even further to demos from the Mustaine days).
Now more than 130 dates deep, WorldWired is expected to stretch into 2020 with charitable action being taken on each stop to help the city's local homeless, hungry and in-need populations. This Hämeenlinna stop saw the band give 55,000 Euros — one for each person in attendance and approximately $61, 276 USD — to children's charity Hope Ry that helps give clothing and other goods to less fortunate youngsters.
