See Mike Shinoda Join K. Flay in Colorful, Upbeat New "Make It Up as I Go" Video

Linkin Park MC's collab with indie pop/hip-hop artist from solo effort 'Post Traumatic' gets stunning digital-collage visual

Mike Shinoda dropped his first solo effort under his own name earlier this year with Post Traumatic, an EP that evolved into a full-length release by June, following the death of his co-frontman Chester Bennington in the genre-defining nu metal band Linkin Park. Shinoda has now released a new video from the record that utilizes stop-motion style digital collages, conveying an old-school hip hop feel to complement the tone of the song. Featured in the video and on the track is independent pop/hip-hop artist K. Flay.

Lyrically, the song tackles Shinoba's difficulty in processing the loss of his friend and musical colleague. Meditations on the loss of faith and direction, a lack of focus, and feelings of despair are sung in are delivered in a surprisingly hopeful tone, and the video's brightly colored aesthetic contrasts with the grief-stricken story therein. Post Traumatic is out now via Warner Bros. and Machine Shop.
