See Nirvana Members Play "Lithium," "In Bloom," More With St. Vincent, Beck, Dave Grohl's Daughter

On Saturday, January 4th, the surviving members of Nirvana — Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic — reunited in Los Angeles at The Palladium, joined by St. Vincent, Beck, and Grohl's 13-year-old daughter Violet to rip through five of the grunge giants' classic cuts in front of a star-studded crowd. All were gathered for the 2020 Art of Elysium Gala, a yearly event to raise funds for the organization, which pairs artists with individuals facing "difficult emotional life challenges." The three guest musicians took turns fronting the band in place of late singer Kurt Cobain. 

Kicking off the set was the St. Vincent–fronted version of the group, repeating their 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction performance of 1991 hit "Lithium." Beck then took over for "In Bloom" before tossing mic duties to Violet Grohl for "Heart-Shaped Box." Between songs, Beck relayed story of seeing the most insane mosh pit of his life in that very room, describing the blood on his hands as he left and recalling that the band he was seeing was Nirvana. 

Two more songs filled out the set as Beck and St. Vincent took position as backing musicians for "Been a Son" and Nirvana's iconic cover of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World." Catch the full performance above, and see some variant angles captured by fans below.
