For the follow-up to their 2018 album, Collider, German/Australian noise-rock trio HEADS. called in a cadre of talented co-conspirators. They recorded the bracing, abrasive new LP, titled PUSH, with Kadavar's Christoph Bartelt in Berlin. Swans' Kristof Hahn, Radare's Matthias Feit and Eisenvater's Markus E. Lipka all make guest appearances on the record. Cult of Luna's Magnus Lindberg mixed and mastered it. And for the music video to accompany PUSH's new single "Weather Beaten," METZ's Alex Edkins stepped in to create a characteristically gritty, static-shredded collage. Today (May 7th), HEADS. have teamed with Revolver to unleash the VHS-style clip. Watch and listen above.
"The general premise of the video is human kind vs. nature," Edkins says of the video and his visual interpretation of the song. "The intelligent/scientific/philosophical/narcissistic human race is in the end humbled by the power of nature. Nature will always win.
"We may fool ourselves into thinking we are in control, but really we have very little. This speaks directly to the current global pandemic we are all adjusting to and working to overcome. In the last scene, the snake and rabbit are meant to symbolize rebirth and hope in the future. We will get through this."
PUSH is due out on May 29th via Glitterhouse Records.
