Metalcore stalwarts drop second 'Deathrattle Sing For Me' single

Ahead of the August 12th release of their new album, Deathrattle Sing for Me, Norma Jean have dropped the video for the LP's latest single "Sleep Explosion." It shows the long-running titans of Georgia metalcore doing what they do best: ripping it up for a crowd of entranced concertgoers, hanging on every word and move of the underground legends.

The video jumps between frenzied scenes including the crowd lying flat in front of the stage as the band prepares to launch into the cut, then switching to them mindlessly holding up blank screens with equally vacant stares during the performance. Eerie flashes from a rural home also pop up throughout, complete with a band member soaked in blood in the bathtub and hellish, horror-inspired clips of red-paint-covered walls in the abandoned home. It evokes a visual uneasiness, cemented by the chaotic static and feedback of the song's conclusion.

"Destruction is a variant of completion," vocalist Cory Brandan explained of the driving force behind the song, which he started working on back in January after a series of house shows when guitarist Grayson Stewart sent him a demo with the title "Valentine's Day Ass Beater."

He added, "We were staying with a friend that night and I opted to sleep in the van so I could listen to this song over and over. I pretty much wrote all the vocals for it that night and not much of it changed. I think sometimes we might think that we've spent so much time on something that we have to continue on the same path. Behind the music, I believe that changing your mind is freeing and we should be prepared and excited to do it anytime we want. Changing my mind is one of my favorite superpowers. 24 hours and a new beginning!"

Revolver's exclusive vinyl variant of Deathrattle Sing for Me sold out immediately, but you can still pre-order the album here.
