Acoustic rendition was busted out at Helping Hands charity concert

On December 16th, at the Microsoft Theater in L.A., Metallica held their third Helping Hands Concert benefiting the metal giants' All Within My Hands foundation. After an opening performance by Greta Van Fleet, the headliners played a unique two-part set — the first part, acoustic; the second, electric — that included the live debut of Metallica's recent surprise single, "Lux Æterna." The acoustic section also featured a special surprise — Metallica covering Thin Lizzy's "Borderline" for the first time ever.

Metallica fans are of course familiar with the metal band's take on Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey in a Jar," but this time, 'Tallica put a stripped-down spin on the track from Thin Lizzy's 1976 LP, Johnny the Fox. Now, they've shared official, pro-shot footage of the noteworthy performance, which you can watch above via YouTube.
