During a May 31st show at Los Angeles' Regent Theater with his reunited band Vio-lence, former Machine Head guitarist (and brief Slayer fill-in player) Phil Demmel had a close encounter with a stage-diving fan that left the enthusiastic mosher with a large chunk of his hair missing.

In a video posted by Demmel the following day, June 1st, the incident is perfectly captured from the side of the stage with a short clip in which the guitarist's headstock becomes entangled with the fan's hair during a high-energy moment during the show. The fan is pushed onstage while crowd-surfing then whips his long locks upwards and into the ax just as Demmel is pushing him back out into the crowd. His hair is stuck however, and a short struggle to get the instrument free ensues.

The fan breaks loose and goes back into the crowd, but not before sacrificing a hefty portion of his dark, curly locks to the painful event. Demmel posted two subsequent updates, the first of which shows the furry aftermath dangling from his ax while still onstage. Another later update shows the guitar still tangled with the hair, of which he says, "The unboxing. #plasticglovesplease." See below, but be warned: it's gnarly.
