This March marks the 20th anniversary of Pantera's swan song, Reinventing the Steel, which both of the band's surviving members — singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown — have pointed to as one of the favorite albums among the Texan juggernaut's heralded catalog. During a January 30th appearance at Osaka, Japan's Umeda Club Quattro, Anselmo took the opportunity to give one of the LP's standout cuts, "We'll Grind That Axe for a Long Time," its onstage debut during the Pantera portion of his set with his solo band, the Illegals.

"These songs always, always, always are a tribute and love to Vinnie Paul and Dime," Anselmo said by way of introduction. "Pantera never played this song that we're about to play ... we never played it live. This is the first time we've ever played it live ever."

"Hey, this is special," he added. "This is one for the hardcore Pantera fans." Watch above, and below, see Anselmo & the Illegals' particularly ferocious full set at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar.
