Sliced ears, topless protesters, dancing riot cops and more

The anticipation for Rammstein's new album — zee German's first in a decade — is reaching a fever pitch, stoked by a tantalizing rollout that has included one of the most insane and controversial heavy-metal music videos in recent memory, 11 teaser clips for each of the record's 11 tracks and the reveal of the LP's strikingly minimalist cover image. Now the leaders of Neue Deutsche Härte ("New German Toughness") have finally graced with fans with a second single from the album, the bouncy, edgy sing-along "Radio."

Rammstein teased the song nearly two weeks ago with a short snippet of its isolated guitar riff — a characteristically chugging, roboto groove that's augmented with Kraftwerkian synths on the full track — and then previewed the music video Wednesday (April 24th) with a cryptic, retro black-and-white trailer. Rammstein premiered the full clip yesterday by projecting it on the side of a building in Berlin in front of a live audience. Reporting on the screening, DW noted, "This year is ... the 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, thus the single ... seems to refer to a time when radio signals were able to traverse the divide — and bring banned rock music to the East."
