See Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

While Anthony Kiedis sports a bizarre shirt-mask

The Red Hot Chili Peppers paid tribute to their defunct peers in the world of Nineties alt-rock royalty. In a performance during Saturday at Flea's benefit for the Silverlake Conservatory Of Music, the Cali band busted into a riotous cover of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" that resulted in frontman Anthony Kiedis lifting his mesh green shirt over his face and keeping it there while he sang.

The minute-and-a-half-long cover was led by guitarist John Frusciante, who sang lead vocals while his bandmates rocked out like hooligans. Watch above via YouTube.
