Pennsylvania's Outer Heaven have, until recently, leaned hard on a fantastic live show. Mixing elements of black metal into their brand of pummeling death metal, the rising outfit routinely delivers onstage performances that are all slash and burn, taking-no-prisoners extremity at its finest and most ferocious. With the band's latest LP, Realms of Eternal Decay, Outer Heaven have solidified their status as one of death metal's top young bands to watch by finally capturing their live chops on wax, thanks in part to the recording wizardry of Kevin Bersten and Arthur Rizk.
Today, Outer Heaven enter the realm of music videos with their first official clip, for "Putrid Dwelling," a deceptively melodic death-metal number that loops in a roaring vocal for that extra evil punch. While the lyrics speak of evil in the most Lovecraftian of ways, the video takes a far more sci-fi approach, depicting shape-shifting dwellers of a distant realm, and the repercussions of an incoming asteroid. Nevertheless, the video — which makes its debut here today — fits the eerie tone and vengeful nature of the track, creating a vibe of calculating darkness.
Outer Heaven's Realms of Eternal Decay is set for release via Relapse on October 12th. You can pre-order yours here.
