Austin shoegaze act unleashes haunting new visual ahead of upcoming album 'Providence' for Holodeck Records

Lest we forget, My Bloody Valentine's calling card — and that of shoegaze in general — is the juxtaposition of dreamlike beauty against loud, aggressive guitars. Austin's Single Lash understand this contrast well, and use it to their advantage in their latest single "Broken Tongue," where ethereal clean guitar tones brush up against crunchy walls of distortion that cut like a dull blade, only to disappear just as suddenly to reveal a lilting, beautiful passage again.

The video for "Broken Tongue," available for the first time here, is a video representation of those contrasts, pairing slow-motion action with shadowlike figures that pop in and out with the press of the fuzz pedal. It's a beautifully shot black-and-white clip that only adds to the mystery and killer nature of the track, making for the perfect visual companion for a journey deep into the outer reaches of the psyche. Check out the video above.

"Broken Tongue" is culled from Single Lash's new LP Providence, due on 10/26 via Holodeck Records, the nom de guerre of Adam Jones from SURVIVE. Order yours, and if you're near Austin, catch Single Lash's album release show at Kinda Tropical on November 10th.
