At a charity event to support Best Buddies Tennessee, a nonprofit that builds "one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)," a metal all-star jam broke out starring Stephen Brodsky of Cave In and Mutoid Man, Ben Weinman of Giraffe Tongue Orchestra and formerly Dillinger Escape Plan, and Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg. A special appearance by Weinberg's father Max (of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and Conan O'Brien's one-time band leader) doubled the star power, and the famous father-son drum duo powered the group through a bluesy rendition of classic Beatles song "Helter Skelter."
Other metal musicians who volunteered their time and talents to the fundraising event included Mastodon's Troy Sanders, Nothing's Domenic Palermo, and Exodus' Jack Gibson. The event was hosted by the younger Weinberg specifically to benefit his segment through the organization called Buddies On The Beat. He said in statement of the partnership, "When I learned about Best Buddies, I was immediately drawn in – not only to the message and intent behind the organization, but to the attitudes and spirits of the kids and young adults who make up the Best Buddies community. I fell in love with their message of inclusion, and connection with people with IDD."
