See Soundgarden Members' First Performance Together Since Chris Cornell's Death

Surviving members played "Black Hole Sun," more at 'I Am the Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell' concert

The highly anticipated "I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" all-star concert did not disappoint last night (January 16th). Among the many big names that came out — Metallica, Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Josh Homme, Jack Black and Brad Pitt, among many others — perhaps the biggest appearance of the night was made by the surviving members of Soundgarden, who played their first show together since Cornell's passing. Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd were joined an array of guest stars, including celebrated guitarist Peter Frampton and singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile on the night's closing number "Black Hole Sun."

The latter's powerful voice is an emotional stand-in for the late singer's legendary pipes and the fan-shot footage, while a bit grainy, shows the beautiful visual accompaniment in the vein of the original video for the group's biggest hit as it plays overhead. Also joining the group were twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth, formerly of the Fighting Machines, who are Seattle natives and have worked with Carlile throughout her career. Below, see the band's full set list, as well as more videos from their momentous performance.
