Deftones-approved band premiere throttling single from new album

There're plenty of great reasons to pay attention to Spotlights. They're signed to Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings label, and the Deftones and Melvins have handpicked them as tour mates in the past. They also have one of Revolver's own among their ranks: our Brand Partnership Director, Chris Enriquez, on drums. Most importantly, their music fucking rips, which is why we're proud to be premiering the video for their eerie, epic and throttling new song "Sunset Burial."

Folding together elements of post-metal, doom and hooky, spectral alt-metal not unlike Deftones, Spotlights build "Sunset Burial" up from a minimal breeze into a full-force gale of destructive heaviness. It kicks ass. Listen while you watch its ghastly music video above via YouTube.

"'Sunset Burial' is a self-reflective story about what goes through our minds while waiting to die," explains guitarist-vocalist Mario Quintero of the song and video, directed by John Pope. "What it's like to deal with feeling something as inevitable as death, and the last minute hope and fear that goes with it. All the while, feeling the calm and relief of passing on."

"Sunset Burial" is the latest single from Spotlights' upcoming album, Alchemy of the Dead, out April 28th via Ipecac Recordings and currently available for pre-order here.
