Smack dab in the middle of LGBT Pride Month, St. Vincent has shared a VERY gay – and VERY metal – music video for "Fast Slow Disco," the dance-friendly reworking of her Masseduction track "Slow Disco." Directed by by cvlt cinematographer Zev Deans (Ghost, Behemoth, Chelsea Wolfe) and filmed at beloved Brooklyn metal venue Saint Vitus, the jubilant clip finds Annie Clark partying it up with a roomful of leather daddies. Crowd surfing, cuddle piles, and slow dances ensue: in other words, it's pride done right; Rob Halford, eat your heart out.
Upon the track's release, Clark remarked, "I always felt this song could wear many different outfits and live many different lives. Here she is in disco pants, sweating on a new york dance floor." Let's amend that: here she is in disco pants, sweating on a dance floor in one of New York's metal meccas. Then again, we'd expect nothing less from a proud metalhead like herself.
