See Suicide Silence Play Raucous Cover of Deftones' "Engine No. 9" in 2011

'Adrenaline' standout got deathcore makeover live onstage

In 2008, less than a year removed from the release of their debut LP, The Cleansing, Suicide Silence released a cover of the Deftones' raging cut "Engine No. 9" on their MySpace page. The deathcore stars' rendition was mostly true to the original — reverent 'Tones fan that they were — save for frontman Mitch Lucker's ferocious extreme vocals. The cover was quickly adopted as a fan favorite, and Suicide Silence would break it out live onstage occasionally to always raucous response.

One particularly high-energy performance took place in 2011, as captured in video shared via the band's official YouTube channel. Watch above as Lucker (who died tragically in a motorcycle accident the following year) and Co. lead the crowd in a very sweaty and very bouncy run-through of the nu-metal classic.
