See Surviving Nirvana Members Perform "Smells Like Teen Spirit" With Joan Jett

Six-song set at Cal Jam Festival 2018 also featured "All Apologies" with the Distillers' Brody Dalle

To round out Cal Jam Festival's October 6th lineup, the surviving members of Nirvana — drummer Dave Grohl, guitarist Pat Smear and bassist Krist Novaselic — joined together onstage for their second official reunion since April 2014 when they played sets at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at New York's Barclay Center, followed by a surprise show later that evening at Brooklyn metal club Saint Vitus. Joining the group for the second time were singer/guitarist Joan Jett and and Deer Tick frontman John McCauley, along with new collaborator Brody Dalle of the Distillers. Grohl's main band Foo Fighters headlined the festival, making it a logical place for the musicians to join together for the occasion.

The six-song set included some of Nirvana's biggest hits like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (above) and "In Bloom," which Grohl also recently covered with soul/jazz act Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave. See those performances and an emotional rendition of "All Apologies" featuring Novoselic on accordion and Dalle on bass below.

Set list:

1. Serve The Servants (with John McCauley)
2. Scentless Apprentice (with John McCauley)
3. In Bloom (with John McCauley)
4. Breed (with Joan Jett)
5. Smells Like Teen Spirit (with Joan Jett)
6. All Apologies (with Joan Jett and Brody Dalle)
