See Teen Guitarist Mash Up System of a Down, Beethoven on 'America's Got Talent'

Polish musician performs stunning acoustic interpretation of "Toxicity," "Symphony No. 5"

It's not too often you get to see heavy metal break through onto mainstream network television, especially in the world of reality shows. Most of the time, contestants on shows like The Voice or X Factor showcase pop and r&b material, ignoring the breadth of quality songs that exist in heavy metal. But recently, America's Got Talent featured a young Polish guitarist, Marcin Patrzalek, who came out and wowed the audience with his spin on System of a Down classic "Toxicity" merged with Beethoven's massive "Symphony No. 5."

After introducing himself to the judges (and buttering them up by revealing that he thinks America's Got Talent is "the best show on earth"), he launches into a stunning reworking of "Symphony No. 5," which sounds totally insane on his acoustic guitar. After impressing the crowd with the intro to the composition, he launches into the main bit of the piece, before he switches gears and unleashes his take on "Toxicity," adding in a bunch of percussive tapping throughout the performance.

The way he plays manages to make the SOAD original still sound heavy and aggressive, but also displays the serious technicality required to play the adventurous song. It's a totally nuts cover, and we're stoked to see a great band represented heavily on TV like that, and without any snark from Simon Cowell.
