See TOOL and Melvins' Buzz Osborne Cover Peach's "You Lied" in 1998

Stunning collaborative take on a song by one-time TOOL openers

While their bands don't sound all that much alike, TOOL and the Melvins go way back. The alt-metal titans opened for Buzz Osborne and Co. before they broke big, and once TOOL became MTV sensations, they paid it back to the grunge-sludge vets by taking them on tour on numerous occasions. During one of those runs in 1998, TOOL invited King Buzzo himself onstage for a stunningly noisy cover of "You Lied," a track by the shortlived British band Peach who notably opened for TOOL in the early Nineties. The Ænima-era show features their trippy visuals in the background while a dress-wearing Maynard James Keenan dances like a spazzed-out lunatic in front of a giant, lit-up gong.

Watch it above, and below, watch Osborne's recent appearance on our "Fan First" podcast, discussing the bands that got him into music, Kurt Cobain's first show, Tool's early support of the Melvins and much more.
