See Tool Play Intense New Songs "Descending," "Invincible" Live in Berlin

Prog-metal band unleashed impassioned versions of new tracks, which they first previewed in May at Welcome to Rockville

With their new album arriving on August 30th, Tool have begun the major countdown with a series of shows around the world. Their June 2nd performance at Berlin's Mercedes-Benz Arena featured a set list full of the band's classics as well as two new songs titled "Descending" and "Invincible"  — which they debuted in May at Welcome to Rockville. Quality fan footage shown above and below captures the tracks in full, as well as the elaborately lit, smoky atmosphere onstage during their execution.

Each stretching over 13 minutes, the songs exemplify the experimental and progressively winding nature of the band's famous output. Lush and patient, they perfectly represent a group who's reached the peaks of rock stardom and stayed confident enough to remain true to themselves without fearing the backlash of branching out.

In addition to "Descending" and "Invincible," Tool have been throwing a track currently titled "CCTrip" into the mix, with fans reporting it's currently a Danny Carey drum solo, but could turn into a full track on the coming record. For a taste of how well-honed and heavy-hitting his skills still are, skip to the 10-minute mark in "Descending" and listen to the thunderous tone and attack the drummer has behind the kit.
