See Tool Prank Blonde Redhead on Opening Act's Final Show of 2022 Tour

Maynard James Keenan and Co. wigged out

On March 10th in Miami, Blonde Redhead played their final show opening for Tool on the first leg of their massive 2022 U.S. tour. The indie-rock veterans had been handpicked by singer Maynard James Keenan for the run, and the Tool frontman and his bandmates sent off the support act in style, by raiding their stage while wearing — and headbanging in — long, blond wigs. Blonde Redhead singer-guitarist Kazu Makino, who was admittedly "stunned" by shenanigans, shared video of the prank as an Instagram story, which was then shared by Keenan. Watch above.

Shortly after, Keenan and Tool both took to social media and posted a photo of the Tool vocalist with Blonde Redhead, bidding them farewell in more heartfelt terms: "It was an honor to share the stage w @blonderedheadofficial @twin.simo @kazu.makino @amedeopace on the first leg of this @toolmusic run," the Tool post read. "One of my ( @iamthebriefcase ) favorite bands that always makes the Harvest Play list at @caduceuscellars."
