See Trailer for Showtime's New Docs on GG Allin, Korn's Head, Agnostic Front

"Four bands, four nights" series will also include film on guitarist Jeff Beck

Amid the punishing onslaught of holiday-themed parties and movies cluttering the air in December, Showtime is set to air four nights of music-focused documentaries including ones on hardcore legends Agnostic Front, punk miscreant GG Allin and nu-metal titans Korn's guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. Kicking off the run will be a film about guitarist Jeff Beck, whose tenure in influential band the Yardbirds helped create the template on which rock & roll's classic golden years were built.

Jeff Beck: Still on the Run features interviews with such guitar luminaries as Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, who expound on their friendship and come-up in rock with Beck. Originally released earlier this year, the film gathers many Sixties and Seventies stars and could provide a valuable cross-generational bonding experience if you're stuck at home with the parents and they don't recall your Korn or GG Allin phases — or choose to pretend they never happened.

In Agnostic Front: The Godfathers of Hardcore, director Ian McFarland focuses on the band members Roger Miret and Vinnie Stigma, "lynchpins of New York Hardcore," chronicling their still-relevant position among the frontrunners of the still-thriving genre. Meanwhile, GG Allin: All in the Family breaks down the punk-rock provocateur's troubled upbringing and its influence on the violent, chaotic mayhem he wrought onstage and in his personal life, as well as the legacy he left for his fans and family to wrestle.

The final segment promoted in the short teaser above highlights Korn's Brian Head Welch: Loud Krazy Love, which includes Jonathan Davis' commentary on the band's meteoric rise to super stardom, which preceded Welch's departure from the group in 2005 in the wake of a stifling drug addiction and his responsibility as a single father. With his daughter experiencing issues with self-harm, Welch found solace in church during his seven-year absence from the band.
