Matt Heafy wasn't just the star of last night's Trivium show, he was the hero. During the metal band's June 7th set in Dallas, Heafy noticed an excited fan crowdsurfing atop the audience who was approaching the barricade at high speed. In most instances, a security guard would be there to catch them and help them down, but in this case, no attendants were in sight, so Heafy took it upon himself to jump offstage and make the save.

In video of the incident, you can see Trivium rocking out like normal when suddenly Heafy notices that one of his band's loyal fans was about to be in serious trouble. Without missing a beat, he throws his guitar down and leaps down from the stage, running up to the front barricade and catching the Trivium fan before they fell a good eight feet onto the hard floor below.

While Heafy was doing hero's work, Trivium bassist Paulo Gregoletto asked security in the room to be more present up front so this didn't happen again.

"Hey security. You need to go the whole way across and not bunch up in the middle," Gregoletto said. "Our singer's not [gonna be] jumping off the stage to catch people tonight, okay? We're not gonna start until there's a couple more people down here."

"Don't ever say we don't love our fans," Heafy wrote in a tweet alongside the video. "Absent security in that spot — dude almost broke his neck — and I had to jump down and catch him!

"Whew. Had to check on a second person on martyr — if that was you — please let me know if you're alright. Dallas. Holy shit."

Pretty damn cool. Watch Heafy's save below.
