See Trivium's Matt Heafy Play Heartfelt Acoustic Cover of Slipknot's "Unsainted"

Singer-guitarist delivers inventive reworking of lowa band's new 'We Are Not Your Kind' single

Slipknot have only just unleashed their latest track "Unsainted" on the world, and Trivium singer-guitarist Matt Heafy has already worked up his own heartfelt acoustic take on the song.

Filmed and streamed from three separate angles on his Twitch channel, Heafy's faithful but stripped-down rendition fades in slowly and builds in intensity much like the original to culminate in a gorgeously belted-out chorus. The six-stringer's stunning pipes take center stage as he strums along gently on his acoustic guitar. Dropping back to just simple stretched-out chords during the song's originally heavy bridge, Heafy brings back the fire before gently crooning out the final solemn notes.

The cover, requested by Twitch user ReaperofTe**r, is part of a series Heafy calls KiichiChaosKaraoke in which his fans "choose a song for me to learn," explains Heafy in the captions, "timing down the pick by 5 minutes — auction-style. Once picked, the song has to be learned and performed in its entirety — immediately — no matter how long it takes."

Trivium are currently on hiatus while Heafy and his wife Ashley take time to raise their young twins.
