See TWO MINUTES TO LATE NIGHT turn PAPA ROACH's "Last Resort" into beautiful folk-rock ballad

Gwarsenio Hall enlists Alkaline Trio, White Reaper members for Mamas and the Papas Roach jam

People love flipping Papa Roach's 2000 nu-metal hit, "Last Resort," completely on its head. Last year, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak's Silk Sonic gave it an R&B makeover, and a couple months later pop singer-songwriter Emma Zander turned it into a melancholy indie ballad. Now, heavy-metal humorists Two Minutes to Late Night have transformed "Last Resort" from a raging banger into a graceful, tuneful and oddly poignant Sixties folk-rock bop.

Assembling a cast of players that include Alkaline Trio's Dan Andriano, White Reaper's Ryan Hater and Murder By Death's Dagan Thorgerson — as well as Kayleigh Goldsworthy, Emma Zander and Two Minutes' own Jordan "Gwarsenio Hall" Olds — this configuration call themselves the Mamas and the Papas Roach (a hysterical play on the Sixties folk staple, the Mamas and the Papas), and they went all-fucking-out with this cover — rendering it nearly unrecognizable from its original form.

Between the acoustic guitar strums, analog synth speckles and warm, congenial vocal harmonies, this rendition of "Last Resort" sounds scarily close to something that would've come out of the California folk-rock scene during the Summer of Love. The video is equally amazing, with Olds taking the reigns and delivering an emotional performance while outfitted in corpse paint, a mop-top hairdo and a paisley shirt. What a fit.
