Phil Anselmo is a longtime fan of Peter Steele and his bands Carnivore and Type O Negative, as he made clear in the moving tribute he wrote for us shortly after Steele's death in 2010. The prolific metal icon discovered the former Neanderthal-thrash outfit in NOLA in the late Eighties, and the latter goth doomsayers toured with Anselmo's band Pantera during both groups' heyday in the following decade. It's no surprise then that Anselmo should have joined Steele onstage on numerous occasions, two of which we're spotlighting here. In the clip above, the Pantera singer joins Type O for a rowdy rendition of the band's "Kill All the White People" complete with a brief nod to AC/DC, and below, Anselmo makes a cameo (around the six-minute mark) during "Black No. 1" for a vicious take on the song's "Loving you is like loving the dead" bridge.
