"My mother is going to be watching this, so I have to watch what I say"

In 1995, Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele made a legendary appearance on The Jerry Springer Show. The episode was titled "Sexy Groupie Girls Tell All," but Steele was a gentleman throughout the show, sparing the sordid details of a number of "encounters" with female fans.

1995 was also the year when Steele posed nude for Playgirl magazine. The publicity stunt was ultimately what got Steele invited onto Springer, just two years after Type O Negative broke out with their third studio album, Bloody Kisses. When Springer himself asked the musician what he thought of women throwing themselves at him, Steele responded, "Well, it's odd to me because this is my job. I'm not here to have a good time, I'm here to pay my phone bill and pay the rent. If they want to throw themselves at me, well, that's their business."

The Green Man didn't give too many details of his encounters with fans. "My mother is going to be watching this, so I have to watch what I say," he joked. However, Steele told one unforgettable story about a nude fan coming to his mother's house on Christmas Eve.

"I had a young lady come to my house on Christmas Eve, dressed in nothing but red high heels and a Santa Claus cap, stark naked outside my house. I was not home. She asked for me, and my mother said, 'Well, Peter's not home and you're gonna catch pneumonia.'"
