Our album of the year 2018 list runners up Vein recently stopped by the Audiotree Live studios to tear through a short set of their signature nu metal-inflected hardcore tracks, including rippers "Broken Glass Complexion," "Demise Automation," and "End Eternal" from their breakout album Errorzone alongside some older jams from previous efforts. The stark setting inside a small studio gives fans a closer, more detailed look at individual members' technique and focus, providing a feeling of unfettered intimacy with the band.
Breakaway interview questions see the band detailing their experience filming in a crumbling abandoned hospital in Gary, Indiana, where, strangely enough, Michael Jackson was born, alongside standard interview fodder such as when they started writing for the album. Singer Anthony DiDio admits the group worked on Errorzone for several years, even while recording other albums, and re-recorded it a year after their initial try after relentless touring honed their talents and helped them tweak the songs.
The band are currently on tour with Every Time I Die, who Vein drummer Matt Wood admits wasn't a big influence on the band despite comparisons between the two. "We got into them super late... We weren't crazy about them. I used to have this one Hellfest DVD that I would watch when I was little," he recalls, continuing, "I liked their set on there, so that's as far as I go with that, but we're definitely getting into it now."
