Lamb of God, Avatar and more

The art of the music video might not be what it used to be, but 2021 still saw more than a few kickass songs translated into equally kickass visuals. VEVO — the multinational video-hosting service best known for providing music videos to YouTube — has compiled their list of the most viewed metal clips of the year, and it includes no-brainers like Lamb of God's demonic "Ghost Shaped People" video, complete with looming goat-skull-headed Baphomet, and Avatar's characteristically surreal visual for their Corey Taylor-assisted single "A Secret Door."

Volbeat and two bands with "Sleep" in their name — While She Sleeps and Sleep Token — also made the cut, but perhaps most surprising, Bullet for My Valentine appear on the year-end chart not once, not twice, not thrice but, count 'em, four times. The U.K. metal stars' videos for "Knives," "Shatter," "Parasite" and "Rainbow Veins" all pop up, comprising nearly half of the list. Watch the playlist above to take in VEVO's top 2021 metal videos.
