See Zombies Attack in Grisly New Video From Justin Pearson's Deaf Club

Dead Cross, Locust, Retox member offers up blistering "Bounced Reality Check"

The Locust, Retox and Dead Cross may have everyone all riled up lately, but those groups are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Justin Pearson's output since first bursting on the scene in the early Nineties — and that's not even counting that sick Jerry Springer appearance. In fact, the San Diego–bred artist is back again with his latest project Deaf Club. The band, which features Pearson, Brian Amalfitano (ACxDC), Scott Osment (Weak Flesh), Jason Klein (Run With the Hunted) and Leo Ulfelder (Fissure), is readying their new Contemporary Sickness EP for release via Three One G Records, and have dropped a harrowing new video for "Bounced Reality Check" here at Revolver. Check it out above for the first time.

Clocking in at a lean 1:56 — of which a hair more than a minute is the actual song — the video depicts a terrifying zombie scene where our protagonist runs for his life before attempting to deal with the situation by the end. The frenetic pace of the Dark Details–directed clip matches that of the unrelenting ADD fury of the track, which mixes d-beat, grind and hardcore with atonal guitars and a general sense of anxiety. It's gnarly, fits well with Pearson's previous work, and is totally essential for all you Stans out there, and new fans, too.

"Metaphorically speaking, reality is subjective," comments Pearson on the video. "It's skewed by the media, my mental illness, by capitalist policy. And I'm pretty sure that we've all bounced checks at times in our lives, especially us in the band who devote our lives to playing the type of music that we do. In relation to the video, director Chris Cunningham [of Dark Details] brought in an element that is obviously fictional, but again, going back to the old metaphorical stuff, it can easily be applied to the barrage of issues that we seem to face on a daily basis. No wonder humanity is broke."
