Boston metalcore act Ice Nine Kills has been riding high: The band's latest album, The Silver Scream, achieved the highest debut on the album sales charts of their career, and made the Top 10 of Revolver'Best Albums of 2018 fan poll. The new year, however, has brought with it some sad news. Singer Spencer Charnas confirmed last night (January 3rd) that his friend and former bandmate Shane Bisnett has died at the age of 31.

"I am so incredibly sad to hear that my old friend Shane Bisnett died on New Year's day. Shane was an immensely kind and talented musician who had such a powerful and beautiful tone to his voice. In addition to touring with Ice Nine Kills for years," said Charnas in an Instagram post showing the duo performing acoustically in 2010. "Shane also wrote a ton of the great melodic elements of our Safe Is Just A Shadow album with me. I'll always remember those cold Rochester, NY nights in 2009 working on songs with him and searching for that 'perfect chorus' together."

Bisnett leaves behind a wife and two children. He was the bassist and clean vocalist in the band from 2009 to 2011. His contributions can be heard on the group's second studio album, 2010's Safe Is Just a Shadow. Ice Nine Kills shared their collective condolences on Twitter as well, as seen below.
