Slaughter to Prevail: Hear Russian Deathcore Band's Crushing Anti-War Song "1984"

Alex Terrible and Co. unveil candid call to "please stop the violence" in Ukraine

Last year, Russian deathcore destroyers Slaughter to Prevail dropped Kostolom, their crushing sophomore album that we deemed one of the best deathcore releases of 2021. Since then, a lot has changed in their homeland after Russia invaded Ukraine back in February of this year, kickstarting a bloody conflict that continues to this day. Naturally, Slaughter to Prevail — whose singer, Alex Terrible, has been vocally opposed to the war on social media — decided to say something about it in the way they know best — a kickass, crushing extreme-metal song pointedly titled, "1984."

Inspired by the scarily relevant George Orwell novel of the same, the track is a candid call to "Please stop the violence/please stop the bloodshed on earth." It's by far Slaughter to Prevail's most political and lyrically urgent track yet, and it comes with a simple yet intense video of the band playing through it with their iconic masks on.
