For the past few months, Big Four thrash legends Slayer have played tirelessly to audiences across North America on their final tour. Today the band announced plans to extend those dates well into 2019, including an appearance at next summer's famed Hellfest Open Air in Clisson, France.
Nearly four decades after they burst onto the metal scene with Show No Mercy, Slayer continue to inspire fans and fellow musicians alike as evidenced on this popular current run. "We always knew this tour would take us into 2019, and we've been blown away by the response we've been getting here in North America," says guitarist Kerry King, "We've heard about fans who have driven five, six hours, or flown in from other cities or countries to see us, so we want to assure fans that we'll be on the road through 2019 and will get to as many places around the world as possible to make it easier for everyone to come and see us one last time."
Echoing King's sentiment, singer Tom Araya says, "I just want to take the time out to say thank you to all our fans who have made this first part of this tour phenomenal. You really are loyal and dedicated fans and we appreciate that so much from you."
With two legs of the tour down, Slayer will hit Europe in November and December, wrapping up in Helsinki, Finland on December 8th. Stay up to date regarding South American, Australian, and Japanese date announcements to follow on the official Slayer website.
